Something’s wrong in Zephyr

I went to Zephyr (128, 128, 24) 
yesterday looking for new spokes for my bike. As cool as it looks, that place has always given me the creeps. But not in a good way.
Yesterday while wandering around the dead, foresaken streets I got some answers.
Out of nowhere some dude came up to me with a Zephyr group tag on, “Hi. I’m bored.” (By the way, what the fuck kind of way is that to greet a stranger?) “Yeah, I can see that. This place is totally dead.”
“A few weeks ago we were hit really hard by a griefing attack, and I don’t know, people stopped hanging out here.”
I paused, trying to think of something helpful to say. “That sucks…” brilliant, yes, I am.
Supermario particle spam, 30 SL foot flapping penises, all kinds of griefing images were assaulting my brain then, as my head started to thump with memories of riding a short bus along a noobie nude beach, thinking that shit was so funny. Well it wasn’t so fucking funny now, looking at this deserted sim.
My ace photographer on duty somehow forgot to get went back and got a picture (yes, I did, says Burgess) of the cool skatepark that’s right across from the bus station. Even that nice little build is always empty now.
This guy told me they used to have events and shit like that in the skatepark, but now they don’t. Can that all be because of griefing? And if so, what the fuck?
Alex and I went back last night to take some pictures and check the story out. As we suspected, nobody home except some lonely bum and a small group of furries, who had to be under 20 judging from the endless amusement they got from playing with stupid gestures. I asked them if they hung out in Zephyr much, “Nope.”
It was fucking sad, man. If a group of young folks like that can’t see fit to spend time in a sim with a skatepark, then where the hell are they hanging out? You can’t spend all your time in the bukkake free sex sims, can you?
Anyway, somebody put a lot of work into this build, and I’m sure when they did, they weren’t planning on a damned post-modern ghost town.
So I’m going back to Baku to talk this over with some of the W-Hat guys. Don’t get me wrong - they aren’t the griefers. But they seem to know more about griefing than anyone in SL and as the campaign manager for Wei 2008, I need some answers if I’m gonna spin this whole gridwide war on grief issue in our favor.
Always look for marketing hook, people, in every pathetic story.
wow…i have been there a long time ago, myg. any privately owned sim is a possible “victim of any griefer attacks”. the problem is and many sim owners are just very talented and don’t add in count that there is always someone out there, hating on the idea of someone’s creation, someones unique ideas.
which will lead to the case of the sim owner to be a lil bit negligent as in security precausions ( sp? ). as sad as it may sounds, most sims have security, officers with ban authorities and pretty much strict rules on what is allowed and what isn’t.
as a sim owner, its almost a must to purchase weapon scanners, sim scanners, possible threats which can happen anytime.
it’s a war out there in virtual land. and the sim can be brought back to life, with precise precautions.
hun… if we would own a philly sim.. we would be such a target for every dumb ass griefer out there. when you own mainland you do have the LL’s somewhat as a backup - because mainland attacks can crash down their main database. as a sim owner - you have to do it yourself.
i will take a stroll there and see if i find some sign of life.
