Viva la revolucion

Last night, we crossed the border illegally into Reforma, Mexico City
on a tip from Andromeda, a new friend who’d come to Philadelphia last night on a hunt for hobo gear. She’s planning to stage a protest there.

“It is nothing like the real Mexico City” she complained. “It is totally clean.” And you know, she’s right.

Other than a few poorly drawn cartoon characters, Reforma Mexico City was perfectly clean. All around were bright shiny folk gabbing en Espanol and sipping cervesas, while quite a few hombres in tuxedos smoked cigarillos and talked about motorized sports.

Romana, political genius that she is, never misses an opportunity to drum up support for Wei 2008. She purred campaign promises in her best Espanol as los hombres admired her bike. A few quaint villagers asked if they’d actually be able to vote Wei in 2008, given that she’s running for office in another country and all.
Burgess and I looked at each other and smiled. “Don’t worry,” I assured them. “We’ll take care of all that.” Little did they know, plans are already underway to contract with Diebold to get the voting machines installed across from the Corona truck before the primary.
Meanwhile, Andromeda was busily organizing her demonstration. Her plan? To dress like a bum and sleep on the streets, in order, I suppose, to give Reforma a more authentic feel.
I’ve never been to the real Mexico City, but I do know that supporting Andromeda’s cause will be good for Wei 2008. If we’re going to run on the Republikan ticket, it can’t hurt to throw your weight behind a movement to put more homeless people on the streets of Mexico City.

Yes! Eat the poor! They’re draining the coffers of the rich! No handouts!
