M is for Myg

It didn’t go well for Torvalpac’s re-entry to Baku folks. Not at all.

First, Romana went to try to engage the locals in some meaningful dialogue. Get a sense of the community, see if she could tease out the elders. But apparently somebody, or multiple somebodies, kept turning her into space slime. She had to jet out.

Romana even went back later with Gala, who’d earlier done some bonding with the Baku clan. Gala’s presence seemed to help prevent Romana from being out and out griefed, but still, even her pleas seemed to move no change of heart among the Bakukanites.

Go ahead and laugh, but I kinda felt bad for the little socialist gesture-popping gun-toting hulk-hogan-quoting duckling. I wanted to try to get him accepted once again amongst his friends.

I went in one night to see if there was anyone I could talk to. But these folks had little interest in talking to me. I think if you want to be taken at all seriously in Baku, you have to be dressed as a ham, a duck, a fish, or any other non-doll looking avatar. Unless, of course, you are wearing a Hulk Hogan, Spartan or Space Marine avatar, in which case you’d better make a lot of jokes about not taking the internet too seriously.

In the end, we gave up and Torvalpac just made a new avatar with a new name. The guy must have about 8 or 9 discarded identities by now. But still, I feel like I let Torvalpac down in some way. Why I dunno exactly. Anyway, I’m sorry Torvalpac.
