Second Life Elections? There’s only one choice. Wei ‘08
Posted by myg
Finally, a race worth running in.
Why would anyone worry about getting elected to the US presidency when the coveted governorship of Second Life was at stake? And I know just the candidate for the job:
Yes folks, Romana is back, and more reactionary than ever. If you thought her controversial stance on Prim Babies was shocking, wait until she unveils the major tenets of her WAR ON DANGER.
Because as we all know, if we’re going to keep Second Life Safe Together, then we’re going to have to go after the enemy, hard. There is no safety without war. And besides, we heard “free blow jobs for all” has been taken by another candidate.
So look out danger, here we come.

*Please read the “note to the confused” carefully at the bottom of the SL Election letter. This is satire. That means there is no “real” SL Election. But that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be one…

[...] through Gmail. She isn’t sure if she’s going to run, but I think she should! Also Myg & Alex found the concerned resident’s message and they’ve teamed up with Romana …, who has did great in last year’s Little Philly elections. Myg, who is Wei’s campaign [...]
Exactly. And in this brief lull before the madness and frenzy of the campaign is upon us I’d like to state the obvious:
Safety has a price, and that price is a little danger. Not the big danger of no war, but the little danger of the WAR ON DANGER. Because the danger of no war is no safety, and if there is no safety with no war, then it is clear that to be safe we must have war!
Can I rule the Metverse … I mean … Can I be the governor
? I am good at blackmailing the opponents!
(unfortunately this one is not funny, it’s embarassing… *sighs*)
Oh, and Mr. Burgess, you talk exactly like the president in my country
You guys make me want to have a blog (now, how can I do a magically apearing blog?) {error nr. 23345 – lack of time}.
On the more serious side, I think that political satire is the best weapon against Linden Labs policy. It does not change the course of their politics, but it does help the residents.
? ). After the recent election in my country it became a common policy. Yes, we fight it with satire, because there is nothing we can do (most of the people in my country are dedicated catholics).
Lindens, besides constantly leaving the errors unfixed, seem to use preventive censoring now (I hope I got that right, maybe someone can translate the term “cenzura prewencyjna” from Polish to English
//serious Vint:
I think firstly we indeed need the people to think about what is happening and encourage them to speak up. (Just as RL, actually.)
Anyway. You can always ‘lend’ a blogpost at my blog, and I’m sure Myg would be willing to post your poster/slogan/platform too.
I’d IM you, but apparently search, L$ balance, appearance and some other stuff is down.
//Vint Falken, candidate in the SLelections 2007: First fix it, then keep it safe!
@Mirabella – “preventive censoring” makes sense in English, too, though it’s a bad policy anywhere, in English or Polish. And I understand about embarrassing presidents… I live in the USA.
Anytime a government official says “I want to help you” I run the other way. I can’t tell if that is satire or self-preservation.
