This blog began as my personal rant about Second Life but my friends got involved and it changed–for the way better. We’re pretty eclectic here, so lemme explain what it is we do.
1. My baby is Met a Stranger. It’s my experimental collaborative fiction project. It was inspired by beautiful builds and thoroughly entertaining people I met in Second Life. I made shit up about those things, wrote it here, and then the story took on a life of its own as a community of readers began to cheer it on, give ideas, and participate through comments. Now it’s our meta-role-play about writing a drama as a “graphic blog series.” We have actors, wardrobes, locations and lots of fun creating it. I hope you have fun reading it. Actually, if you read it at all, I’ll be happy. If you like it, I’ll be super extra happy.
2. The RL love of my life, Alexander Burgess has started DJing at our club Clockwork in Topgol, Mainline Philadelphia. Every Monday night at 7pm SLT he spins an hour of new music in a set he calls (n)eXt. Every Tuesday he posts the set list and a podcast. It rocks, trust me. If you’re into what was once the indie rock sorta scene, come by and give a listen. Dude’s got good music taste. Alex posts a lot of other stuff too, from party recaps to blogtreks to weapons tests–find it all under the Burgess tag. Burgess also writes the Met a Stranger series with me.
3. Lisa Takao is one of my dearest and first friends in SL. When she’s got the time and inclination, she brings you the creme of SL shopping with her feature, Mode Premiere. There’s nothing I know worth knowing about shopping in SL that didn’t come from or was approved by Lisa. She’s just that good. But she’s not just good with shopping. She knows how to put together a whole avatar–look, mood, behavior, animations, attitude. And she knows how to look for the best design in-world. So I save myself time when I need something. I start with her Mode Premiere posts everytime I need something cool. Lisa also graces Met a Stranger with her hawtness, along with her girl Vanny (who has also written posts for Met a Stranger in character).
4. The exciting new addition to M is for Myg is Esteban Moody. S/he is currently our free-thinker in-residence and posts heady freaky shit about our virtual existence and the potential intersection with some perceived or imaginary reality outside the box. Find her/his mindbenders under the philosophyction tag. S/he also rocks a set on Mondays after Burgess at Clockwork. Podcasts located under the estebanpodcast tag. Esteban, aka “Roach” founded Topgol’s first and only meanass street gang, The Scripts. Don’t worry, The Scripts are more interested in pool parties and skank talkin’ than anything else. At least it looks that way from here.
We all write what we think is interesting, fun or important for our readers. Our ideas about that change and variety is the result. I think that’s cool and I have to say I’m real happy with how it’s going.
We also think the best thing about any blog is getting to talk to other people who read it. So don’t be shy. Leave us a comment or get in touch with us in-world. We hang in Topgol a lot and invite you to come visit us there too.
It’s all I got for now.
