SSgt Myg

We’d just returned from our vacation and my head was splitting, but he bugged me and bugged me and bugged me and so I did it. I logged on. He was Alex, and he’d gotten the urge real bad. So in he went, and then a little while later, in I went too.

I was fumbling at the keyboard. Couldn’t type as fast as I once could. Couldn’t exactly remember my dance moves, nor how to find my favorite outfits in inventory. For once I didn’t bother to change clothes. I could barely maintain the assorted IMs and local chat that commanded more of my attention than I give to paying clients on my best days.

But then I like a challenge.

I can see a lot has changed since I was last on. I don’t think I’ve spent any kind of actual time in since the early or mid-spring. And I know I’m not the only one who’s been in digital crisis. All kinds of things have been up in the air. The Mean Girls  are finally packing it in. (And by the way, it seems I’ve been fired from the Mean Girls, though I only noticed it today when I went there and saw my name and link gone. But it’s just as well since, as I just mentioned, I only noticed I was ousted today, meaning I haven’t even been visiting the blog or anybody elses save this one once in awhile…) You can view the web in SL now, they tell me. Sable has a boyfriend! Romana has created a sex den with SL’s largest sex bed (link to follow). And you can make your lips move when you talk, if you know how. I mean, that’s some serious change.

But I think I’m ready.

Alex returns as DJ keTchUp this Thursday, you know where, at Clockwork. I think he said 6pm SL time, and yeah, I’ll be back with more and a reminder before then.

I’d throw you the SLURLs, but I forget how. Give me a few days, k?

The True Funk

Attention, sisters, brothers, and others! This is the true funk calling out! Can you hear me? It works like this: wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, the true funk is out there, justwaiting for you to tune it in. I live on all frequencies in all galaxies, so remember me when you are unlocking the door of your car or grabbing a coke from the fridge at the gas station. See, there I am, cold and smooth in your palm. You walk down the aisle past the Sun Chips and the Fritos.

“Did you find everything you were looking for?”

“Actually, I was looking for justice. I was looking for a resplendent future for all humankind, an end to cruelty and want. I was looking for my true love. I was looking for certainty in my actions and a lightness in my step.”

“You were looking for the true funk.”

“I was.”

Suddenly it’s there, the snap of the snare, the blare of trumpets, and that BEAT, that indefatigable funky beat, sure as clockwork and palpable like the great pumping heart of the world. It’s struggle. It’s sex. It’s heartbreak. It’s all your friends over on a Friday night.

Everybody wants it. Take a look:

* * * * *

Can you feel it? Yes you can. From the inside out and the outside in, the funk is there. Wild horses gallop through the clouds. You can smell the urine in the street. Pop open the tab. It’s cool and refreshing, but it’s not Coke. (How many times do I need to tell you not to drink that shit?) Look inside there, where the Coke should be: it’s your second life, a little rooftop. Is anybody looking? Down there. A little hermaphrodite and a dancing crowd. Can you feel it? yes you can. Where did you go? The can clatters to the floor. The cashier looks up.

“Did you see that? Where’d they go?”

The Mandelbrot Set Returns!

    Hello folks!

Yeah, I know it’s been a long while since I’ve post, and I apologize to any clandestine fans who haven’t commented or anything. Its not really that I haven’t been playing at clckwrk – its more that I just haven’t been satisfied with a piece enough to stick it up on here, is all.

Anyways, no more – since I’m quite happy with this mix here, again – both the tunage and sticking it together. I still have a lot to learn, and could definitely use a better toolset to work with while mixing, but otherwise, I think its good and hope you do too. Its a mix of melodic housey piano stuff and some bleepy electro cuts and all that stuff. Kinda splits in the middle then bends back, funnily enough.

As usual, feedback and stuff is appreciated.

You Don’t Know What You’re Missing

Remember that fantasy you have of me in a cheerleader’s uniform dancing on a leopard-skin chair? Well, you’re going to be disappointed that you missed this past Monday night at Clockwork. The game was “Should It Stay Or Should It Go,” which consisted of me pulling out random items from my inventory and those in attendance voting “Stay” or “Go.” (The cheerleader uniform was a “stay,” the leopard chair a “go.”) Other items of note:

Viking Helmet: Go
Cowboy Hat: Go
Bondage Table: Stay
Sex Chair: Go (too tacky)
Long blue hair: Go
Checkered jacket: Stay
Squirrel on face: Go
Dog that ran away: [ran away]
White lollypop: stay
Something that was called a shirt but was really just kind of a trapezoid on my boobs, WTF?: Go
“Irish woman undershirt”: Go

But besides that, the music! What will you hear? Well, put it this way, when we all get to Heaven and they’re passing out the ’77 Camaros and GTO’s, the leather jackets, and the combat boots, this is what will be playing on the car stereos. The ecstatic glory of rock n roll.

The fun usually starts around 6:30ish SLT and goes for a couple of hours.

I’m Esteban Moody and I paid for this ad.

Stuff I’m thinking about.

Why am I typing this when I have an assload of work I must get done because I have an early as fuck training tomorrow morning? Because I love you, that’s why. In fact, I love you more than my job.

That picture above features The Ladybird aka Xaxoqual Mandelbrot, me and Edward Horton after (during?) another kickass electronica set by Xax. As far as I know, Esteban will be playing punky stuff tonight at 6 SLT. So come and skank! -=CLOCKWORK=-

I saw this post at New World Notes on Unions getting together in Second Life and it made me think of Esteban. Can anyone provide me with a logical explanation as to why New World Notes does not own newworldnotes.com or some version thereof?

Did anyone else follow this idiotic story the Washington Post did about terrorists using Second Life to plot and terrorize us? This has nothing to do with the unions, by the way – that was probably a bad transition, though they are both technically falling under the “using Second Life to organize” theme. Hmmm. Let me rant for a minute. Hey! Let’s fear technology! That’ll show the terrorists! Gwyneth Llewellyn posts a much better rant on this issue here.

I was sad to hear that Tateru Nino’s father died last week. She posted a beautiful tributeto him here. She wrote:

“Life is a test,” he told me, “Everything is a lesson. You stop learning when you die. Maybe not even then.”

Here’s to him, and here’s to you Tateru. Thanks for sharing your memories of him with us during this difficult time.

Signing off now.
