Spotted at Clockwork!

For the viewing pleasure of those inclined towards the male form, I present to you my latest collection of snapshots from Clockwork! Now, appearance herein is no statement towards the availability of the following eye candy. Some presented here are otherwise obliged, some are not inclined towards Slove, and some I just don’t know. All I know is, they come to Clockwork here and there and make for some nice pixel viewing. So enjoy!

First is CR0W - also known for art and the tagging of Topgol…

CR0W

Next up is Preston, our most recent recruit to Topgol:

Preston!

As far as I know, everybody loves a nice shot of Wrath every once in awhile! Here he is, sitting high aloft on top of the giant speaker on the roof.

guardian wrath

Next up we’ve got Ben, purveyor of helmets and bean bag chairs…

BEN

This guy’s name was Raedel and he’s a friend of CR0W’s…

Here we have Alex, aka DJ keTcHup, the owner of Clockwork and betrothed to yours truly…

I wanted to throw in a shot of Hawksrock here, but somehow I don’t have any recent pics of him! Oh well, come Tuesdays and you can grab your own!

Happy Saturday!

The Mandelbrot Set - Frosted Beats

mandelbrot3.jpgSo, it looks like I’m back with another mix to post - though this one isn’t so recent like the other ones. This time I’m pulling one back from mid december, but the tracklist is really nice so I wanted to share it and all. Mixings not amazing, a bit off in places - but fortunately theres no real train wrecks in sight. As for content, it starts out all female vocally and morphys into a techy minimal soundfest with lots of nice precussion and synth textures ( or I think so anyways). Again, length is about 1:15 or so. Speaking of length too, how is the size? Is this a good chunk for you guys or should I take more/less of my set? Input would be great on this!

Anyways, thanks for all the positive responses so far! I really appreciate them and I hope you enjoy this set too!

Second Life is good for….music!

So imagine this.

You’re sitting in your room or office or kitchen or wherever you sit and you’re listening to some hip little indie radio program from your local college radion station. An amazing song comes on - you must have it! So you wait, wait, wait for the DJ to break and run through the track listings. You’d better hope you’re not in car, about to drive into the Holland Tunnel where the radio reception cuts out and you miss it. And still, you have to wait to go and get the song, then play it for everyone you know so they can bask in its amazingness as well. Maybe there’s a better way…

Imagine now, you turn on your computer and log into Second Life. You teleport your ass down to -=Clockwork=- or some other bitchin’ little out of the way virtual dive beause you know that on most nights of the week, somebody is going to DJ that hip little indie rock show or the rare funk show or the 80s ska/punk show that you love, right there in SL. You can listen and then, hey, actually interact with the DJ, see the track listing as it comes up or just ask the DJ about it. And - bonus - you can also chat up the other fabulously hip virtual scenesters. (Or you can just plant yourself down and listen quietly.)

And while listening, you can go and download those mp3s you’re hearing, support the musicians you’re listening to, and who knows? Maybe you’re so into music you decide to come up with some of your own playlists and get yourself a DJ gig too (which can earn you $L a lot more painlessly than camping or escorting can, by the way).

Listening to music with friends is one of my favorite things to do, in any life. But it’s certainly become my number one activity in Second Life. In any life, not all clubs are created equal so it’s a good idea to talk to folks to find out the good spots (and hey, hit the comments section here with names and SLURLs of the places you love, please, because being a manager at Clockwork, I don’t get out enough…) You can try events, but to be honest, I get so overwhelmed wading through that list I normally don’t bother. So hey - come to Clockwork tonight at around 6pm SLT to hear Gorgeous Guen or tomorrow night at 6pm SLT for Esteban and Alex’s double header, and the Clockwork regulars can fill you in on the best places to check out.

This post doesn’t even touch the blossoming live music scene - something I’m not all that acquainted with, to be honest. But the more I hear about it, the more interested I am in it. So stay tuned.

Clockwork: (n)eXt podcast, electronica tonight, and new events!

Clockwork is for lovers

(The podcast is at the end, so scroll down if you’re in a hurry for some aural relief.)

Okay, so I told you ’bout the walrus and me man? You know we moved our Monday set to Friday nights (6-8 pm SL)? Well, here’s another clue you can mull, the walrus was Hulk. And Esteban/Hulk will be dj’ing Mondays at Clockwork playing a wider range of favorites and plenty o’ rock. Don’t worry, the funk will still happen on Friday nights, it just means there won’t be a hole in the schedule on Monday. Not only that, Clockwork has added KONA radio dj GoSpeed Racer to our Monday lineup from 4-6 pm to warm up the crowd before Esteban (and to provide a happy hour for those of you who have the live music open mic Mondays bug, yeah, you know who you are).

So now there is music at Clockwork six days a week (I’m still holding Saturday night open for special events), and lots of slots open before 6-8 for any djs in a European time zone, or later for those of you out west or on the Pacific Rim. (Hint, hint.) If you’re a dj looking for a gig and think you might fit in at Clockwork, point me toward a podcast or drop a notecard on my profile with a playlist from a recent set. Please don’t ask me to come hear you live; as much as I’d like to, my RL schedule prohibits me from many extracurricular activities.

Psst… schedule change and a contest — Party tonight!

SableLean in a little closer, Sable wants to tell you something:

DJ keTchUp’s (n)eXt new music hour(s) and DJ Esteban’s Anti-Monday funk at Clockwork have moved to Friday nights! Friday, 6-9 pm SL time, to be specific. That means tonight is the kickoff for their party all fucking weekend extravaganza! And they can’t really call it the Anti-Monday funk, so there’s a contest to come up with a new name. Post your suggestions here in the comments if you want, but if you don’t show up and tell it to either keTchUp or Esteban in person, it won’t be in the running. If yours is picked (and there’s no guarantee they’ll take anyone’s) you will win one of the following fantastic prizes: a new car, a tour of Asia, some L$ more than L$1 and less than L$501, a date with Sable, a kitchen appliance of Professional Quality(tm), or something else entirely. Make sure you come out–you may already have won!
