Here’s last night’s set, without the skipping and dropouts that were provided courtesy of some evil harddrive/network confluencies. Click the arrow to stream or right click and “save link as” to download:

Ska means skankin’ means Tuesdays at Clockwork

Skankin' Tuesdays

Clockwork is proud to announce the arrival of one of SL’s hottest DJ personalities, JellyBean Madison, to bring you the ska on Tuesdays nights. Here’s an idea of what she’ll be spinning: first-third generation SKA, rockabilly (i.e The Cramps, Stray Cats, Reverend Horton Heat) & a touch of punk (i.e Pennywise, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I). Her favorite SKA bands are: No Doubt, Mustard Plug, Sublime, Madness, Catch 22, Streetlight Manifesto, Mad Caddies, Skeletones, The Specials, The Lambrettas, etc. So break out your porkpie hats, dark shades, tight skirts and skinny ties and tp your ass over to Mainline Philly’s favorite hang, Topgol (225, 143, 54), this Tuesday and giver her a nice big mahalo with the rest of the rudies.

The club’s schedule is filling up nicely, and here’s what the week holds in store for you:

Monday 6-7 p.m. SL time
DJ keTchUp spins freestyle – old school punk to IDM, if you want to party on a Monday but want to hear tracks that are more familia, get out early before the new music starts.

Monday 7-8 p.m. SL time
(n)eXt with DJ keTchUp
New music Mondays with the latest indie rock, glitchiest idm, electroclash, blog rock, postrock soundscapes, and digital tweaking.

Monday 8-9 p.m. SL time
Esteban gets down wit da boogie
shake it for an hour with the Anti-Monday mix

Tuesday 6-8 p.m. SL time
Skankin’ Tuesdays w/JellyBean
um, ska (duh), and some punk, because what’s one without the other?

Wednesday 8-10 p.m. SL time
DesertWolf brings you a rock soundscape that will make you think the weekend came early.

Thursday 7-8 p.m. SL time
DJ keTchUp spins IDM, downtempo, chill, and other esoteric electronica, and probably sticks around a little longer and cuts loose with some heavier club tracks.

-=Clockwork=- schedule for week of August 5

Elusyve at Clockwork

There are many reasons I like Elusyve, and I’m just getting to know her. Number one is the woman understands the power of orange. Also, she can dance for hours without spilling her vodka tonic. I’m beginning to suspect her secret is that the glass is empty by the time she gets two steps from the bar.

Here is this week’s lineup at Clockwork:

-=Clockwork=-
Mainline, Topgol, (227, 140, 55) [SLurl]

Schedule as of 8/5/07

Monday 6-7 p.m. SL time
DJ keTchUp spins freestyle – old school punk to IDM, if you want to party on a Monday but want to hear tracks that are older and possibly more familiar, get out early before the new music starts.

Monday 7-8 p.m. SL time
(n)eXt with DJ keTchUp
New music Mondays with the latest indie rock, glitchiest idm, electroclash, blog rock, postrock soundscapes, and digital tweaking. This week expect great new sounds from The Editors, The Red Romance, PB&J, MIA, and god Love You For a Liar.

Monday 8-9 p.m. SL time
Esteban turns the Anti-Monday mix up a notch for the fans who went apeshit over last week’s podcast.

I am a DJ I am what I play

Anonymous behind my shades, I surveyed the scene: bodies again, bodies in motion.

Funk is the music of determination. What else is there? The mechanistic drill of techno, the chilled beats of trip-hop? Funk is hard work and sweat. The body has to move, full of life, imposing its will upon the world. That’s all there is: what it is is what it is; it’s the beat; it’s being in time because time has come today, my friend. Are you with me?

Clockwork was hopping on Monday night. I’d tell you who was there, but who wasn’t there? — you know what I mean? But we’re there to bust a move, not make the scene, ya dig? Our minds tell us it’s Monday, that our meatpersons are back at work, but truth lies in solidarity: we don’t believe in the meatworld. We believe in life.

Can you feel it?
‘Cause I can feel it.
Can you hear it?
‘Cause I can hear it too.
Can you touch it?
‘Cause I can touch it.

Did you miss it? Do you want it again?

As you can see, there are still some open slots in our schedule. If you’re a dj who thinks your style might fit in well at Clockwork, drop a notecard on me with your tastes and maybe a setlist. I’m looking for fun people with serious taste in music. Not crowd pleasers, but taste makers. DJs who can turn people on to the good shit and not be a dick about it. Pay is tips only. You gotta just love it. If you want to make $$, get an MBA.

My girl wants to party all the time…

Once again The Inside Scoop is on the scene, undercover with cameras rolling to capture the first installment of (n)eXt. Wrath must be using some kind of jedi mind trick because I always seem to forget that he’s the main paparazzo with SL’s best entertainment machinima show. There’s got to be a shorter term for that. I know if it was a paper publication we could just use “fish wrapper” and you’d know what I’m talking about. But I’ll stop there because I love the press. Hell, I would have invited the cameras ahead of time if I’d known, set out a crudite, even. A good time was had–even Turchin, the random n00b who wandered into the bar minutes before the party started was enjoying himself, though I think he got way more than he bargained for serving as Johnny’s bartender. I don’t think he knew what hit him. Thanks to everyone who came out, hope you enjoyed the set, and if you did, there’ll be another one of superfresh tracks coming up at 7 p.m. SL time, Monday night.

And that was Monday night–after we’d been partying all Sunday afternoon at the pirate-themed July blogmeet, hosted by dinee. Turnout was so great, we crashed the sim. All told, I counted 32 different bloggers throughout the party, and we had about 26 avs in the room when it crashed. Follow the jump to see a round up all all the great blog coverage the even got, Tiana’s machinima of the party, and a gander at some of the pics we took there.

DJ keTchUp

You know you need it, you know you do. Don’t be shy. It’s okay. You’re not alone. Some of us need it bad all the time. That’s right, you know what I’m talking about. You want it hard and then you want it soft. You want it fast in an alley or long and slow, swelling to a crescendo on the dance floor. Well don’t worry, DJ keTchUp has the script for you. Shooting straight from his decks bringing you aural pleasure comes the new sound, the now sound — the quantum foam of the future and the past through tomorrow.

(n)eXt w/ DJ keTchUp
new music every Monday night
7-8 p.m. SL time
at Clockwork [SLurl], Mainline Philadelphia, Topgol

First set: Monday, 7/16/07

This Monday the soundscape is wide open, covering everything from the latest indie rock to the glitchiest idm, electroclash to blog rock, postrock soundscapes and digital tweaking, songs you can dance to, thrash to, smoke hash to. Songs you’ll be humming for days. This is where you’ll get what you need. Line up and let Chef keTchUp feed you one hour of superfresh sonic treats for your hungry ears. New songs in every set, no repeats. Dance your av off and get in on some friendly conversation with the similarly obsessed. And for those of you who live in European time zones or just plain miss it, the sets will be available as downloadable podcasts right here on Tuesday mornings.

So consider this the formal announcement of the opening of Clockwork. The schedule is still in flux but it’s time to be spinning. Expect a smorgasbord of delicious sets by a select group of djs building the reputation of the tastemaking leviathan that Clockwork promises to be.

And if that wasn’t enough, this Monday 7/16 will include a special A-list party (everyone’s invited) to celebrate the Season 2 premiere of Met a Stranger. Be sure to catch the first episode Monday right here on M is for Myg!
